Think of the irony, will you? Demons come down in their natural form, and terrorize a few innocent townspeople. The townspeople, having been told by their culture that the lights and sounds are those of an alien attack, therefore come to believe in aliens. Going back to the false dichotomy of science and religion, they therefore conclude that science is right, and therefore religion is wrong-- therefore the universe is a cold, empty and Godless void. Works nicely, wouldn't you say?
