In a way, yes... but remember, I'm a hard-core monotheist, and God is transcendentally conscious.
(And more than capable of reading the great big four-dimensional comic strip that is Planet Earth.)
In a sense, you have a consciousness (God), that sets
impersonal rules (the laws of physics),
which then produce people (y'all), that are also consciousnesses
capable of deriving meaning from
ciphers. Since God's consicousness supercedes physics (as
shown in the helpful diagram),
the true measure of your existence is not the in the mere electrical impulses in transient synapses
strung across incontinent space,
but your personality as determined by your Creator.
This becomes important when we get into the area of the afterlife.
